From a fresh food perspective – it doesn’t get any better than this time of year!  The garden is in full swing – and so are the meals in our household.

Fresh green beans, basil pesto, sliced tomato and egg sandwiches, fresh salsa with peppers, tomato, garlic and onion, corn on the cob and blackberry and peach pie all made their way to the dinner table this week.  The truth is – this time of year is a bit trying when it comes to figuring out what we want to eat fresh form the garden – mainly because the choices outnumber the number of times we can eat in a day. 🙂

We both had to laugh as the oldest in the family, now a sophomore in college and home for the summer – sent out a tweet Saturday to her friends simply stating: -“It’s a good thing I don’t live here all the time or I would weigh 250 pounds!”

Luckily for us, the eating of all the fresh picked food is not only much healthier than anything we could ever buy at the grocery store – but is also balanced by the exercise we get from harvesting and working in the garden and on the farm.   We call it our personal “GYM membership” – but for us the GYM stands for Garden and Yard Maintenance.

To us, it’s the best workout we could ever ask for – giving us the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors every single day while doing something we both love!

Speaking of which – today’s post will have to end a little on the shorter side because we have quite a few things that need picked!

Its time to head out to the farm and get started.

Happy Gardening,

Jim and Mary

What are these peppers? I received a heirloom pepper plant multi pack from Azure this season and I’ve not been able to identify them. Also, what do you stuff them with. I Love your posts
